There was a lot of speculation regarding the release date of the two new iPhones in India. Apple’s official website had initially shown 26th September as the launch date but this was then changed to 17th October. The delay seems to be due to shortage of supply of the iPhone 6 Plus. Apple didn’t expect the 6 Plus to sell so much in India but the Americans definitely preferred the bigger sized iPhone.
iPhone 6 sports a 4.7 inches screen while the 6 Plus has a 5.5 inches display. Both the phones are almost similar in other specs. The only difference in the camera is that the iPhone 6 has Digital Image stabilisation while the iPhone 6 Plus has Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). OIS helps to stabilize an image by varying the optical path to the sensor. Both the devices will be shipped with iOS 8.
A slew of new flagship devices have been launched in India recently. The iPhone 6 will compete with the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus will have to battle it out with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the LG G3 which has a similarly sized display. It remains to see how the two new iPhones will perform in India as Tim Cook quoted, India is a big market for smartphones.
